My Job Sucks

Time and Time again people tell me how they hate their jobs. Hate in my vocabulary is a very strong word. In my mind I am thinking "so what are you going to do about it"... Then reality strucks in. "I cannot leave my job because I have financial responsabilities". Then they continue with someone else "Oh I hate my job or my job sucks", and this goes on and on.

The secret is to find a job that you would do anyway even if you did not get paid for it. There is a quote by Confucius that says "Find a job that you love and you will never have to work another day in your life".

Your work consists of half of your life. Most work hours are about 35-50 hours a week, some of us work up to 70 hours a week.

The fact is, if you are working so many hours. Why not chose a job you love. Your job consists of half of your life. This means if you are not happy in your job, you are missing out on half of your life. The biggest and best excuse is, we cannot find this job, this dream job does not exist.

Well, if you do not try to find it, it wont come finding you. The more you insist and persist, the most likely you are to get the job you truly deserve.

A close friend of mine was working in a job that had no interest to him whatsoever. He worked this job for many years. The last two years he was simply miserable. His job paid him well, yet only the money was motivating him to stay further.

Today he left his job and has started his own company. He is still in the process of making his companies vision a true reality, but he is working hard to attain his goal.

The first time my wife saw him after he left his job, she whispered in my ear "Wow, he looks like a different person", I smiled and said "YES, his Aura says it all".

Everything takes effort, or like people like to say, "some guts". but when you make the effort for positive change, everything will be worth while.

As a life coach I like to extract all the information possible from you and then through questioning and tailor made exercises I will manage to find your dream job.

This one time I had one client (I asked him wether I could get his consent for using this particular example) who I asked so What do you love to do mostly in your life ? His answer was simple "I love sports" I then asked him if he could elaborate or give me one sport in particular he loved mostly. He said football.

He was soft spoken, maybe shy, but he had one passion, he lived for sports and football was his number one ambition in life.

Ok so football, what could you do as a job that was related to football, I asked him to fire out the endless possibilities of jobs related to football.

A football player, a football coach, a football sports commentator, a football scout, own a football retail outlet, sell tickets at the football stadium, a football cafe, and on and on we went.

Suddenly he had a big smile, and he uttered two words " I Know". That was it, I did not want to get into his head, his mindset had shifted into the right direction, he knew what had to be done.

WHat about you ? What is your ambition ? Whats your passion ? What do you love to do the most ?. Get a friend or two and brainstorm some ideas, even the most radical and outrageous ideas regarding your passion. Once your list has a minimum of at least ten opportunities, go through them and ask yourself, What would it take me to achieve my goals (time and money) ? Narrow the choices with questions regarding, working hours, pay and conditions, opportunities etc. Once your mind is set on one job, find the ways and mean of attaining this ambition. I can tell you, you will have a BIG SMILE and you WILL KNOW too.

If you are not happy at work, maybe its time to move out and move on, if you are not happy at work for other reasons, sort out the situation once and for all. THIS IS YOUR LIFE and NO ONE ELSE'S.

Keep Well,
If you have any feedback or suggestions,
please feel free to message me,
till then enjoy life and keep smiling
